The daughter of artist-musician-professors, Clara Youtz was raised on a steady diet of creativity and eccentricities. Much to her parents’ chagrin, Clara quickly developed a fierce affinity for pop culture, sass, and sparkles. Thankfully, this combination ultimately steeped together into the relatable, thoughtful, and irreverent work Clara has grown up to produce.
After graduating from Pop Music school in Liverpool, UK, Clara returned home to Tacoma, WA. Her subsequent mental unraveling became the impetus for her first podcast Life Is Trash and her debut EP The Deep Dark under her musical moniker Youtz.
Her second EP as Youtz, Darling, We’re Losing, was released in August 2022 while earning her Master’s of Communications at the University of Washington in Seattle. Clara is currently the Director of Media & Development at MLK Labor, where she bridges creative, communications, and technology in service of excellent working conditions for all working people. She continues to write and record music, pen essays, and seek out creative opportunities.
